Dear friends,

Kung Hei Fat Choi! Very best wishes for the Year of the Horse!

As we mentioned last month, we have a great start to the New Year in store, with visits from both our main teacher, Lama Ole Nydahl, and one of the most important teachers of our school, Jigme Rinpoche. Please find details of both events below.

Limitless Space and Joy with Lama Ole Nydahl

We are delighted to announce that Lama Ole Nydahl will be visiting Hong Kong from 28 February to 2 March to give teachings on The Great Seal (Skt. Mahamudra / Tib. Chag Chen).

The Great Seal is the crown jewel of the Buddha’s teachings and was taught by him to fully awaken mind’s potential and to seal its enlightened nature, an experience of limitless space and bliss. When one rests in the totality of the seer, what is seen and the act of seeing at all times, the goal, Mahamudra, is reached. There are only very few schools of Zen and Tibetan Buddhism which have succeeded in keeping these teachings alive until today.

The weekend course will start with an introductory talk on Friday evening to provide an introduction to Buddhism, meditation and the topic. Over the weekend, Lama Ole will describe the progressive stages which lead to this state and also guide several meditations throughout the course.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Jigme Rinpoche: Two Courses

Jigme Rinpoche is one of the most important teachers of the Karma Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism and it is wonderful to announce he will be giving a series of teachings in February 2014 in Hong Kong. He is talking about “Development of Buddha Nature and Compassion” on 12-13 February, and about “Which Conditions Should be Gathered and Applied for an Authentic and Fruitful Diamond Way Practice” on 19-20 February. The talks will take place at City University and The University of Hong Kong respectively.

For details of the schedule, please refer to this link on our website. To register, contact Winnie at bodhipath@kagyunews.com.hk

Lama Jigme Rinpoche is the representative of the Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje in Europe and travels throughout various countries giving empowerments, talks and other programs. He is the spiritual head of Dhagpo Kagyu Ling, a retreat centre in France. You can find more information about Jigme Rinpoche from his website here.

We warmly welcome all to attend the talks with this inspiring teacher.

Regular Meditation Sessions

We meet every Monday and Wednesday for meditation at our centre in Sheung Wan. As usual, we’ll start at 8pm and all are welcome to join. If you are new to Buddhism, you can come along on Wednesday evenings at 7.30pm where one of our regular members will give a short talk to introduce the meditation and explain a little about who we are and what we do. On Saturdays, we meet for meditation practice at 11am for those who would like to carry on with their own practice with friends.

Quote of the month

“If you wish for some fundamental boost of happiness for your life – when you get up, please think or repeat the words: ‘may all beings be happy’. This sets one’s inner power free and relaxes one’s stiff ideas.”

– Lama Ole Nydahl

Look forward to seeing you soon!

Best wishes!
